Quick Summary: DHA medical fitness result
- Check your result: online at the official dubaihealth.ae "Check Medical Fitness Status" service, or on the DHA / Dubai Health smart app.
- What it is: the DHA (now Dubai Health) medical fitness test is the mandatory health screening every expatriate aged 18+ must pass to get or renew a Dubai residence visa and Emirates ID.
- What you need: your Request Reference Number (shown on your receipt or booking confirmation) and your date of birth. Your passport or Emirates ID number works as a fallback.
- Fee & timing: the standard test is AED 270 (the government base rate – confirm the current fee) with the result in about 24 hours; express and VIP options at approved centres are faster for a higher fee.
- Result types: fit (visa proceeds), unfit (visa refused), or a conditional certificate for certain tuberculosis cases.
- Note: this is a Dubai (Dubai Health / DHA) service. Tests taken in other emirates are checked with their own authority.
The short version: to see your DHA medical fitness result, go to the official Dubai Health (dubaihealth.ae) "Check Medical Fitness Status" page (or the smart app), enter your reference number and date of birth, and your status shows as fit, unfit, or conditional. The standard test costs AED 270 and is usually ready within 24 hours; the certificate is then emailed to you.
Before the UAE issues you a residence visa and Emirates ID, you have to prove you are free of certain communicable diseases. In Dubai, that screening is run by Dubai Health (the authority most people still know as the DHA) through its approved medical fitness centres. Once you have taken the test, the part everyone wants is simple: where do I see my result, and what does it mean?
This guide shows you exactly how to check your DHA medical fitness result online, what the test screens for, what it typically costs, and what a fit, unfit or conditional result actually means for your visa. It is written for Dubai; if your test was in another emirate, we point you to the right authority near the end. HenryClub is an independent advisory – the test and its result are issued only by the government authority, never by us.

What the DHA medical fitness test is and who needs it
The medical fitness test is a government health screening that confirms an expatriate is free of specific communicable diseases before a residence visa is granted. It applies to:
- New residents applying for their first UAE residence visa.
- Existing residents renewing their visa – the test repeats at every visa cycle, not just once.
- Adults aged 18 and above. Children under 18 on a family or dependent visa are generally exempt.
It is a requirement for the visa itself, so your Emirates ID and residence permit cannot be completed until you are marked fit.
What the test screens for
Every applicant is screened for the two core communicable diseases below. Some occupations are screened for more.
- HIV – by blood test, for both new applications and renewals, for all applicants.
- Tuberculosis (TB) – screened for all applicants, and specifically at every renewal. Note that the pulmonary-TB chest X-ray applied at first entry differs by emirate; in Dubai the screening approach is not identical to Abu Dhabi’s, so follow the centre’s instructions.
Workers in certain roles must also test negative for syphilis and hepatitis B – this covers domestic workers (housemaids, nannies, drivers), food handlers and restaurant or cafe staff, nursery and school staff, and workers in salons, beauty centres and health clubs. Female domestic workers must additionally test negative for pregnancy.
Some private centres also list hepatitis C or leprosy. The official UAE Government list names HIV, TB, hepatitis B, syphilis and pregnancy for the categories above; confirm the exact panel for your visa type with your centre.

Fees depend on how fast you need the result. The base government rate and common centre packages are below.
| Package | Typical fee (AED) | Result time |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 270 | Within 24 hours |
| Express / VIP (approved centres, e.g. Smart Salem) | from ~700 to 1,020 | ~30 minutes to a few hours |
| Pregnancy test add-on (female domestic workers) | +50 | – |
The standard AED 270 rate was set by Dubai Government in 2021 (Administrative Resolution No. 66 of 2021) and may have changed since. Express and VIP prices are set by each approved centre and vary; confirm the current fee with your chosen centre before booking.
Fit, unfit and conditional results explained
Your certificate will show one of three outcomes:
- Fit – you are free of the screened communicable diseases and your visa and Emirates ID proceed normally.
- Conditional fitness – applied to certain tuberculosis cases (TB scars, active or drug-resistant TB). You are issued a one-year residence visa and must undergo supervised treatment in the UAE. TB is the main manageable condition.
- Unfit – a positive result for a disqualifying communicable disease blocks the residence visa. Under current UAE federal policy, an applicant who tests positive for HIV is classed as medically unfit and the visa is refused, in all categories. This is set and applied by the government authority, not by any medical centre or by HenryClub.
If a result looks wrong, raise it directly with the medical fitness centre and Dubai Health – only the authority can review or re-issue a result.
If your test was outside Dubai
A Dubai Health certificate is used for a Dubai visa. In other emirates the screening and the result check are run by a different authority:
- Abu Dhabi – SEHA / Department of Health (DOH) disease-screening centres.
- Sharjah and the northern emirates – Emirates Health Services (EHS), under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), checked at ehs.gov.ae.
Use the authority for the emirate where you are applying for your visa, as a certificate is generally valid only in the emirate that issued it.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Losing the reference number. Save the SMS or receipt – it is the fastest way to pull your result. Passport or Emirates ID number is the backup.
- Checking on the wrong portal. A Dubai test shows on dubaihealth.ae, not on the Abu Dhabi or MOHAP portals, and vice versa.
- Booking standard when you are in a hurry. If your visa deadline is tight, the express or VIP package returns the result far faster.
- Assuming children need the test. Under-18 dependants are generally exempt – check before you pay.
- Trusting an unofficial "result checker". Only Dubai Health issues and displays the real result. Ignore third-party sites asking for payment to "release" it.

Talk to a HenryClub adviserDHA medical fitness result: frequently asked questions
How do I check my DHA medical fitness result online?
Go to the official Dubai Health service at dubaihealth.ae and open “Check Medical Fitness Status”, or use the DHA / Dubai Health smart app. Enter your Request Reference Number and date of birth, and your status is shown as fit, unfit or conditional. Once you are marked fit, the certificate is emailed to you and flows to your visa application.
What do I need to check my medical fitness status?
You need your Request Reference Number, which is shown on your receipt or booking confirmation after the test, plus your date of birth. If you have lost the reference number, you can use your passport number or Emirates ID number instead.
How long does the DHA medical fitness result take?
On the standard package the result is usually ready within about 24 hours, and typically appears online around 24 to 72 hours after the exam, depending on the centre. Express and VIP packages at approved centres are much faster – from around 30 minutes to a few hours. The final certificate can occasionally take a few working days.
How much does the DHA medical fitness test cost in Dubai?
The standard government base rate is AED 270, set by Dubai Government in 2021 (Administrative Resolution No. 66 of 2021) and subject to change, with the result in about 24 hours. Express and VIP packages at approved centres such as Smart Salem cost more – commonly from around AED 700 to AED 1,020 – for a faster result. Female domestic workers pay an extra AED 50 for the pregnancy test. Confirm the current fee with your centre.
What diseases does the UAE medical fitness test check for?
Every applicant is screened for HIV and tuberculosis. Workers in specific roles – domestic workers, food handlers, nursery and school staff, and salon, beauty and health-club workers – must also test negative for syphilis and hepatitis B, and female domestic workers must test negative for pregnancy. Some private centres list additional tests, but those five are the ones named in the official UAE Government provisions.
What happens if I am found medically unfit?
An “unfit” result means a disqualifying communicable disease was found and the residence visa is refused. Under current UAE federal policy this applies to a positive HIV result, in all categories. Tuberculosis is treated differently: TB scars, active or drug-resistant TB lead to a conditional fitness certificate and a one-year visa with supervised treatment in the UAE. These outcomes are decided by the government authority, not by any medical centre.
Do children need a DHA medical fitness test?
The test is required for applicants aged 18 and above. Children under 18 applying on a family or dependent visa are generally exempt. Check with your typing centre or medical fitness centre before booking, as requirements can vary by case.
Is a Dubai medical fitness certificate valid in other emirates?
Generally no. A certificate is valid in the emirate that issued it, so a Dubai Health certificate is used for a Dubai visa. If you are applying in Abu Dhabi you use SEHA / DOH, and in the northern emirates you use Emirates Health Services (EHS) under MOHAP. Always test with the authority for the emirate where your visa is being processed.
